Tomorrow is the Kentucky Derby! Our new collection, Equestrian, was inspired by the horse racing and show culture. As we speak, one of our designers is at the Derby promising us pictures of the beautiful hats, people and horses... exciting images next week.

New product teaser! Ooh la la! A touch of traditional Parisian flair, Maison decorative pillows are sure to trigger a reminiscence of strolling through a French flea market. While touring a local Chicago neighborhood, I spotted a decorative fence that made me think of how I could use felt to create a lovely cut out look on a pillow. The picture of the fence below could either be created by cutting out individual petals and stem pieces then sewing atop a background, or the image could be traced, cut out and sewn on top of a different color felt background.

Maybe it's my sweet tooth, or maybe it's all the mocha's I've been enjoying lately, but I am finding pillow inspiration in random places. Yesterday we were out walking and saw two beautiful deserts that would look great as pillows! The polka dot pattern below and the detailing on the buttery yellow cake would make lovely texture on a pillow. Where have you found inspiration while you've been out and about? Email us.
March 14, 2010 Turquoise is the color of the year! And who doesn't love turquoise? I would decorate everything in this color or accent with it if I could. There is even a blog dedicated to the devotion of this color everythingturquoise.com. Hollywood award season comes to a close with the Oscars tonight. Who doesn't look forward to all red carpet events as a source of inspiration in design? And, if we miss a show we can always check the elle.com's celebrity style pages for a quick recap. Not only does fashion influence the soft home accent industry by color and fabric, but it can also influence the design details of a product, especially pillows! We love to look at the design details of the dresses and try to envision them on a pillow's surface, experimenting with the way a fabric moves, folds, gathers and pleats. February is over and March is just around the corner, which means Spring is just around the corner as well! We don't know about you but we are anxious to say goodbye to winter. How have we managed through the cold and snow? Well, we've managed to stay creative and busy with a fabric that is more fun than any other fabric, Felt!  We've seen a resurgence of felt in the market place from home accent products to greeting cards. Have you? The color possibilities with felt are endless as well as the design possibilities. We have been busy developing new concepts for Studio 773! Look for more frequent postings and pictures of what we are working on, dreaming about and experimenting with for our pillow collections. Our latest introduction included a holiday offering that debuted at the Dallas F!NDS show in January. Future journal entries will include insight on some of the fun we have been creating. Think, felt, felt, felt, French laundry, and animals (from dogs to horses).

Welcome to the Studio 773 design journal! Our first post is brought to you live from the Dallas F!NDS temporary show at the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market. We've sent one of our designers, Katherine, and marketing associate, Sara to the show, which runs January 15th through the 18th.
We are very excited to introduce our first ever holiday line of pillows for Studio 773! There are three groups with different aesthetics, Candy Cane, Deck the Halls and Home for the Holidays.
